Corsham Civic Society Appoints New Chairman
Corsham Civic Society has announced Wyndham Thomas as its new Chairman.
A former Head of the Music Department at the University of Bristol, Wyndham retired in 2004 and now divides his time between composing, writing and lecturing on classical music. He succeeds Peter Tapscott, who takes over the role of Vice Chairman and Publicity Officer after three years in office.
Wyndham comments: "When my wife Kathy and I moved to Corsham in late 2003, we joined the Civic Society in order to make new contacts and establishing ourselves in the community. I am truly honoured to take up this important role, as this is an exciting time for the Society, with work on the Mayo Memorial restoration project about to start and the plan to take over the running of the Corsham Tourist Information and Heritage Centre now finally taking shape. Peter has done a remarkable job in galvanising the Society during his period in office – with membership of the CCS now approaching 150. Looking to the immediate future, I hope to see the Society lead another successful Corsham participation in Heritage Open Days.”
Corsham Civic Society represents the people of Corsham in all aspects of conservation, preservation and the promotion of the Wiltshire town.
