New Chairman Takes Charge
Corsham Civic Society’s new Chairman, Wyndham Thomas (see picture), took charge of his first meeting of the Society as July drew to a close.
The evening’s speaker was Tessa Cozens, Wiltshire’s Community Librarian. Her talk was entitled ‘Between the Covers’. It proved to be thoroughly entertaining for the large attendance that had been attracted by the eye-catching posters that had been displayed around the town. Some had even come over from Bath to be part of the event.
August is another busy month for the Society. A visit to the Museum of Bath at Work, in Julian Road, has been organised for the evening of Wednesday the 16th. Additionally, the annual BBQ will be held in the grounds of Heywood School on Saturday the 19th. Strong interest has already been expressed in both events.
The next regular Friday evening Society Meeting is scheduled for 22 September, when the venue will be St Aldhelm’s Church Hall in Pickwick Road.
The Society’s website, www.corsham-civic-society.co.uk , has recently been updated and is receiving frequent ‘hits’ from those who wish to know more about this exciting and enterprising community. The Society’s Vice Chairman and Publicity Officer, Peter Tapscott, urges you to become one of them. “Add it to your Favorites”, he says.
